Ingredients

  • 4-5 cups thinly sliced red cabbage halved and cored
  • 3 gala apples peeled and chopped
  • 2 medium yellow onion sliced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup Braggs apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 roasted salted peanuts for garnish optional

Instructions

  1. Place shredded cabbage in a bowl, rinse and set aside.
  2. Peel and chop apples into 1 inch cubes and set aside.
  3. Melt butter and canola oil in a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Add onions to the pan and sauté for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add purple cabbage, apples, vinegar and garlic and toss to coat.
  6. Cover and reduce the heat to medium and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add sugar, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, cumin and worcestershire sauce.
  8. Cook for an additional 10 minutes and serve immediately.
